  6. NEW YORK - A public school teacher
  7. was arrested today at John F. Kennedy
  8. International Airport as he attempted
  9. to board a flight while in possession
  10. of a ruler, a protractor, a set
  11. square, a slide rule, and a
  12. calculator.

  14.     At a morning press conference,
  15. Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez said
  16. he believes the man is a member of the
  17. notorious Al-gebra movement. He did
  18. not identify the man, who has been
  19. charged by the FBI with carrying
  20. weapons of math instruction.

  22.     "Al-gebra is a problem for us,"
  23. Gonzalez said.  "They desire solutions
  24. by means and extremes, and sometimes
  25. go off on tangents in a search of
  26. absolute value. They use secret code
  27. names like 'x' and 'y' and refer to
  28. themselves as 'unknowns,' but we have
  29. determined they belong to a common
  30. denominator of the axis of medieval
  31. with coordinates in every country. As
  32. the Greek philanderer Isosceles used
  33. to say, 'There are 3 sides to every
  34. triangle.'

  36.     When asked to comment on the
  37. arrest, President Bush said, "If God
  38. had wanted us to have better Weapons
  39. of Math Instruction, He would have
  40. given us more fingers and toes."

  43. they could not recall a more
  44. intelligent or profound statement by
  45. the president.
